You’ve heard everyone and their mam talking about “the environment”, “upcycling”, and “being green”. But what does that really mean and how can you be included in this fad. We will show you how to be green as well!

Well, first it isn’t really a fad. Being more conscious of your environmental footprint should be a part of your lifestyle. Recently, the Irish government passed a bill aiming to cut carbon emissions by about 50%.

Wow! That seems like a really big (and impossible) goal! It’s not. Everyone can play their part in environmental conservation to be green. The planet is alive, and so it needs to be looked after. With so many large companies polluting, so many people driving, and not enough recycling, the world is in a bad state. If we don’t do something soon, there will be mass food shortages, unbearable heat and cold, and a lack of habitable land for our children. That’s right, even today your kids are living through climate change.

So how can you, me, and all of us support the environment?

  • Changing small habits can have a great effect:
  • Recycle any clean, soft/hard plastics and papers
  • Compost all extra food, plants, and wet paper
  • Turn off the faucet when you brush your teeth
  • Cycle or walk to the corner shop instead of driving (it’s good exercise too!)
  • You can get special water saving  kits here FOR FREE
  • And finally, buy sustainably

But we aren’t just the problem. The real problems are the big companies taking advantage of us and our world. Get their attention by writing letters or emails to your government representatives. It can be a short statement telling them how you feel and asking them to do their best to ensure proper regulations are put into place. Find your representatives here.

We all can do our part to make our world a happier and healthier place.
